First, they (should have) sent Cascade hops instead of some noble German variety. Also, the hopping level that they suggested would have put it in the 40-45 IBU range, well outside the suggested guidelines.

@Roger: It was aggravatingDean Brundagehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13547718948937506698noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8518918694970797270.post-29449657329287892352008-02-10T08:05:00.000-08:002008-02-10T08:05:00.000-08:00Well done Dean.Congratulations on your first brew ...Well done Dean.

Congratulations on your first brew after the move.

I'm impressed that:
1) you didn't let a minor thing, like missing the hops, stop you.
2) you went forward undaunted and
3) most important had beer to share with your new found friends.

Good job,
Roger.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05701887966536588851noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8518918694970797270.post-64577834443662870582008-02-09T20:03:00.000-08:002008-02-09T20:03:00.000-08:00Ah, nice Kölsch. Soon I'll be lagering.

Keeping with the German Beer theme, I was just reading about Alts, and there's a special seasonal Alt brewed in Duesseldorf (or course) called a Sticke (or secret) Alt. It's stranger and hoppier than a regular Alt. I think this may be my next beer...a new style!

5.3 lbs Pilsner malt<GregRhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09339226505804871912noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8518918694970797270.post-63497557726163519102008-02-09T19:23:00.000-08:002008-02-09T19:23:00.000-08:00Very good read sir, good read...Very good read sir, good read...Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16651145546082420330noreply@blogger.com
